Brand eins and Statista have once again recognised Xenium as one of the best consultancies – in the IT implementation category. We are delighted to receive this recognition. And we are taking this opportunity to address two questions: What exactly is meant by IT implementation? And why are we listed in this particular category?
IT implementation – more than just rolling out systems
In the strictest sense, IT implementation refers to the introduction or deployment of IT systems within an organisation. The term is often reduced to technical aspects – such as development, configuration, interfaces or the go-live.
In our experience, this falls short. This is because every IT system has a direct impact on processes, roles and decision-making pathways. IT implementation therefore always involves changing the organisation. Success depends less on the technology and more on whether business requirements are understood, translated and implemented in a way that is sustainable in users’ day-to-day work.
Why we are classified in this category – and why that is not the whole story
We understand why Xenium is listed by brand eins in the IT implementation category. Many of our projects operate at the interface between business expertise, organisation and IT. We support projects not only at the conceptual stage, but right through to effective implementation. At the same time, this classification reflects only part of our work. This is because our support often begins before an implementation decision is made – for example, in clarifying objectives, structuring requirements, prioritising initiatives or aligning project and portfolio management. And it does not end with the go-live, but where solutions must function in everyday practice.
Our mission
Categories and rankings help with orientation, but can only provide a simplified picture of the reality of complex change initiatives. Projects can rarely be neatly divided into strategy, implementation or operations – and are just as rarely clearly categorised.
Our approach at Xenium is therefore to take a holistic view: from technical clarification and structural decisions right through to concrete implementation. We see the award from brand eins and statista as confirmation of our commitment to taking responsibility for impact – not just for concepts, but for results. Regardless of how we are categorised.
